In 1964, Japan hosted the Olympics in Tokyo. At this time, Japan stated their goal was about “reconstructing” and “developing Japanese technology around the world.”
Why did Japan stress the importance of these points? The reason is in the early days of the International Development Association, we were still reconstructing our country after World War II and were far from being prosperous.
Concercuensly, Japan accomplished these goals in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. This big factor is the success of players who brought Japan to life. In the Tokyo Olympics, Japanese athletes got a lot of medals. For example, 16 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals. Especially, the Japanese women’s volleyball team, which were called the Oriental Witches by people, beat the Soviet volleyball team in the final. Therefore, the Japanese people were enthused.
As a result, of the 1964’s Olympics is not only urban development and economic growth but also sports become popular in our country.

The Tokyo Olympics 2020 will be held this year. The concepts are everyone's personal best, diversity and harmony and inheritance to the future. However, we couldn’t hold the competition last year due to COVID-19. In other words, we had no choice but to quit to protect human life. On the other hand, many people hoped that they should hold it to encourage people around the world.
As a result, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be held not in 2020 but 2021. However, this Olympics is not usual because the IOC said they’ve decided to have the Tokyo Olympics games without any spectators. Also, there were many other changes connected to the venues, cost, and more.
The Sapporo Marathon
Did you know the venue of the marathon had changed from Tokyo to Sapporo? Generally speaking, Sapporo is a more comfortable place than Tokyo. For instance, last summer, the difference between the highest temperature in Tokyo and Sapporo was about 5 degrees. Thus Japan was concerned about the spectator’s health.
Although you may be confused about how to go there. Because, there are three lines of subways in Sapporo which are the Namboku line, the Toho line, and the Tozai line.
However, Odori station is a common station and runs through three lines. Moreover, The Sapporo marathon course in 2021 was announced and it was including the sights of Sapporo such as Odori Park. So you can know how to visit marathon courses to encourage athletes.
This means you do not complicate it when you go on a marathon course by subway. However, last week Japanese government said it will be held without spectators. Thus, you should stay home to protect yourself and athletes' health.
Let's have a fun Tokyo Olympics in your home!
Thank you.
