Donguri

 

Hello, everyone. I’m Ayaka. I’ll introduce  Donguri.  Donguri is a company running bakeries and a rice ball shop in Hokkaido.

1. History of  Donguri

Donguri was a café at first.  In 1983, The cafe was opened. The word “Donguri” means acorns and the shop’s name came from a big oak-tree in front of the café. The café was closed, but the Donguri was opened as a bakery at the other place. Donguri is becoming popular and the number of shops is increasing. Now, there are 11 shops in Hokkaido.

2. Chikuwa bread

Donguri has become famous because of chikuwa bread. Chikuwa is fish sticks, so chikuwa bread is a bread covering chikuwa. Actually, Donguri created chikuwa bread. A customer made a suggestion that it was interesting to make bread using chikuwa, and that is the beginning of chikuwa bread. Now, it is spreading in Japan.

3. Donguri menu

Donguri has a lot of delicious food. You can buy bread, sweets, salad and croquettes at bakeries, and rice balls at the rice balls shop. There are always 170 kinds of bread in bakeries, so you may find your favorite one there! In the rice ball shop, you can see unusual rice balls. So, you can enjoy them!
