Hokkaido’s Sports Team

 Do you know how many professional sports teams Hokkaido has?

   

Actually, it has four teams and their names are Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, Levanga Hokkaido, and Espolada Hokkaido. In order, they are a baseball, soccer, basketball, and futsal team.

The Fighters

The Fighters is a baseball team in Pacific league in Japan. 

Otani Shohei, a player in the Major League Baseball team Los Angeles Angels, was a Hokkaido Fighters player in the past.

Currently, Sho Nakata, Naoki Miyanishi and Haruki Nishikawa, are players in the Fighters team, they have won lots of titles and points in the past making them famous in the Japanese baseball world.

Their home stadium has been located in Sapporo, but in two years time, they will move to Kitahiroshima. 

 

They are competing this year as well to hopefully win the championship.

Consadole

Consadole is J1 soccer team league in Japan.

The supervisor of the team is famous in the J League. He has made a few teams strong.

A lot of fans of Consadole hope that he will lead the team to victory.

Ono Shinzi, who is Japanese soccer legend, plays for the team.

 

Their red and black uniform is very cool!!!

Levanga Sapporo

Levanga Hokkaido was organized by Orimo Takehiko in 2011, and he wanted people in Hokkaido to keep cheering for it in the future. So he named this team Levanga which is made from the mixed letters of the word “ganbare” and means “Hang in there!” in Japanese.

Also, the team's colors are green, purple, and gold which indicate nature in Hokkaido.

Orimo is a great person and he worked hard as both the owner of this team and player until 2020. Now, he supports players as the president of this team.

“Levanga Hokkaido” has been taking a great role in basketball in Hokkaido and has a lot of fans now.
