Shrines in Hokkaido

 Hokkaido shrine

It has been over one hundred years since Hokkaido shrine was built on the Meiji emperor`s command.  And he ordered that we should worship three gods of pioneering. So Yoshitake Shima who had launched the designs of Sapporo City at that time decided to build Hokkaido shrine in the Maruyama which was enclosed in three directions by mountains. As a result, the existence of an institution which have worshiped the Gods of Shinto was the place where the settlers who pioneered Hokkaido could communicate to each other. Also, now Hokkaido shrine is the place where people assemble to pray the Gods.

Naganuma shrine

About an hour east by car from Sapporo,  there is Naganuma shrine. The shrine is surrounded by so many trees and has a nostalgic atmosphere. I think you can feel like going through a “green” tunnel when you walk on the approach.

Naganuma shrine is also known as the only shrine in Japan that sells Tbibito-mamori (traveler amulet). If you like touring

and traveling, why don’t you visit once?

Itsukushima Shrine

Next, this is the Itsukushima Shrine. When most people hear Itsukushima shrine, they think about Hiroshima prefecture. But this shrine is located in Toyohira-Ku, Sapporo. In the Meiji period, many people migrated from Hiroshima to Hokkaido. It is said that they built the shrine in their hometown as a model. But, in that era, this shrine was called Tsukisamu Shrine. But, in the Showa period, this shrine was renamed to its current name. It is a shrine where you can understand the relationship between Hokkaido and the whole country in the old days.

If you have seen this blog, please come and visit.

The Abashiri shrine

This is Abashiri Shrine. First, Abashiri City is located at the eastern end of Hokkaido. Not only in winter, but also in summer, it is basically cold. This shrine is surrounded by many trees because it is located in a forest.

In addition, many festivals such as New Year and Shichigosan have been held here since ancient times. The shrine is also famous as a power spot (in English, 'a sacred place') in Hokkaido, so many tourists visit it every year. Why don't you all visit once?
